Privacy policy

quhop is a social daily-quest app: you do small real-life quests alone or with friends and post a photo or video as proof. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and how to delete your data. We don't show ads and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable) and the name you choose.
- Profile and game: your interests, level, stats, items, badges, points, streak, rep score and role (player, judge or admin).
- What you post: proof photos and videos, captions, who can see each post, comments, cheers, and reports you send.
- Profile photo (only if you add one): other players see it next to your name. It's stored with a hard-to-guess web link, so treat it as public.
- Chat messages: what you write in 1-to-1, Duo and Party chats, and when you last read each chat.
- Friends and groups: your friend code, friends and requests, Duo partner, party, and players you've blocked.
- Safety records: reports about you or your posts, warnings, suspensions or bans, and the actions judges and admins take.
- Location: only if you allow it, and only on your phone. The quest map uses it to show your area. We don't store your location on our servers or show it to anyone.
How we use it
- To run the game: daily quests, posting, judging, points, ranks, badges, friends, Duo and parties.
- To check proof: right after you post a photo, it's sent to our AI provider to check it shows the quest (see below).
- To keep quhop safe: handling reports, removing posts or comments that break the terms, and warning, suspending or banning accounts.
- To answer you when you contact us.
Who can see your posts
You choose for each post: Everyone, Friends or My party. The friends you play a Duo or Party quest with always see it. Judges and admins can see posts that are reported or waiting for a judge. Blocked players can't see your posts or comments.
Chats are only seen by the people in them (the two friends, your Duo, or your party). If someone reports a message, admins can read that message to handle the report.
Services that help run quhop
- Supabase hosts our accounts, database and the photo and video files.
- Vercel hosts the web version of the app.
- Anthropic (Claude) checks proof photos and profile photos. It receives the photo (and for proof, the quest and your caption) and returns an answer. It doesn't get your name or email.
- OpenStreetMap (Overpass) and OpenFreeMap provide the map and the public places for quest characters. Your phone loads map pictures for the area you're looking at, like any map app. For the public places, our server looks up each area (about 2 km square) once and shares it with everyone; it doesn't save who asked. They don't receive your account details.
These services may store data outside your country. They only use it to provide their service to quhop.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, posts, photos, videos, comments, cheers, friends and game data are deleted. A few safety records (for example, that an admin removed a post) may stay without your name.
Your choices and rights
- Change your name and interests in Profile; delete your own posts and comments any time.
- Choose who sees each post, and block players.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete my account. See how to delete your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing us.
Age
quhop is for people 13 and older. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, proof files are private, and rules in our database decide who can see what. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if the change is important.
